(...but how could it be good, since it's not a comedy?)
Sukeban Dekka (スケバン刑事), "Delinquent Girl Detective", is a Japanese manga series that was adapted into a live-action television series and three feature films.
The story features one delinquent schoolgirl being taken in by the government and fighting crime to redeem her troubled past with the help of some schoolgirl friends ('la fille' Nikita?). Her weapons include the razor yo-yo that also doubles as a police badge, lethal foil origami cranes (really), marbles, knitting needles and darts. The laws of physics and disbelief are not allowed in this story; for example in the first movie, an helicopter is taken down by the powerful yo-yo.
The new movie (English title: Yo-Yo Girl Cop) is directed by Kenta Fukasaku, the screenwriter for the film Battle Royale and director of the sequel, the imaginatively titled Battle Royale 2.
Killer detail: the girl keeps her deadly yo-yo attached to her garter, under the school uniform mini-skirt, as seen very briefly in the trailer; apparently that's the best place for a fast draw. In the 80s TV series, the skirt was much longer and the yo-yo was stuck on the left arm armor; at least that's something the new movie improves on.
It's not all school uniforms though; at the end of the movie the heroin has to don a battle suit, evidently stolen from Emma Peel's wardrobe.
